KRIPPLED ANCHOVY
Rigging Krippled Anchovy
(4 to 6 inch Baitfish)

FIGURE 1

To bait Krippled Anchovy, slide plastic head up leader approx. 6 inches away from hook(s). Pull red plastic pin from holes in the head. Insert bait snugly into plastic head cavity, back of bait must be on the same side as the leader exit hole on nose.

With bait forced tight up into head cavity. Hold red pin by ball end and insert pin point in round hole. Push pin straight down through bait and out lower hole. Fig.1.

To ease entry of pin in frozen bait make a dry run with a dry toothpick. Place sharp end of toothpick in round hole and force toothpick down through bait and out other side. Place red pin in hole made by toothpick Fig. 2. Push pin till snug and twist pin head to line up straight with leader. Fig.3.

After bait is secured by red plastic pin, you may further secure bait by placing a toothpick through bait and holes  in top and bottom of plastic head. Fig.4. Always break toothpicks off clean.

Setting Hook

While supporting baitfish, insert hook into the side of the bait. Enter hook high on the baits side, where the silver meets the blue. Approx.   1 1/2 -2" up from end of tail. Fig.5. The shank of the hook should lie flat against bait. In the case of a tandem rig the rear hook should hand free at the tip of the tail. Fig.6.

Carefully curve the bait towards the hook side. Tail end must be curved in. Hold plastic head in one hand and carefully pull leader so as to take up the slack between blister and hook, this will place the needed curve in the bait.

FIGURE 6
Figure 7

If bait is fresh, fat, or soft you may have to push a dry toothpick into the flesh, just under the skin in tail region. Do this after hook is placed and tail and rear of bait are bent in a curve. This toothpick will hold curve in rear portion of the bait. Fig.7&8

Threading New Leader

Thread end of leader through rear blister, through red pin and oval hole. Point leader end to exit at rear of head cavity, loop leader end around, and lead back into cavity and exit through nose hole. Fig.9.

FIGURE 8
Figure 9

Replace toothpick point in blister so as to make a friction stop. Push a dry toothpick point in blister hole alongside leader, push until snug  and break ends off clean. Replace toothpick when leader slides to freely. Do not force toothpick in to far you will burst the blister, leader needs only to be snug.
